Amber is a private shared journaling app for couples. This policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, and your rights. The service is operated by Hlib Kupriianov, based in Hilvarenbeek, Netherlands ("we", "us"). We act as the data controller for the data described below.
We process your data on these legal bases under the GDPR:
We do not sell your personal data or your content, and we do not use it for advertising.
Data is hosted on our infrastructure provider, Supabase. Your content is protected by row-level security so that no other couple can access your space, and photos are stored in a private bucket scoped to your couple. Email delivery (for example password resets) is handled by our email provider.
Your content is visible only to you and your linked partner. We share data with service providers (hosting and email delivery) strictly as needed to run Amber, and those providers act as our processors under appropriate agreements. We may disclose data if required by law.
Where data is processed outside the European Economic Area, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
We keep your data while your account is active. When you delete your account, your profile and associated content are removed, except where we must retain limited information to comply with legal obligations.
Under the GDPR you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, and the right to data portability. You can delete your account directly in the app. To exercise any other right, contact us at support@amber-app.com.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. In the Netherlands this is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens (autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl).
Amber is not directed to children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
